RULE BOOK DISCLAIMER
The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to
provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to
establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These
rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by
participating in these events, all participants are deemed to
have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY
OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH
THESE RULES AND OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for
the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against
injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official.
The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and
appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or
impose any further restrictions that in his/her opinions do not
alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR
IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF
SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules
is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is
final.
2010 BMS Crate Late Model Rules
Safety Rules
-
All cars must have 3" seat belts with shoulder harness
and must be attached to roll cage.
-
All cars must be equipped with a 2 pound ABC fire
extinguisher. We recommend a #5 Halon System
-
All drivers must ware a complete fire suite.
-
Gloves are not required, but highly recommended.
Engine Rules
-
GM Part Number 88958602 & GM Part Number 88958604.
-
These engines are sealed at the intake manifold,
cylinder head, front cover, and oil pan with special twist off bolt
heads. Crate engines must not be altered, modified or changed from
factory specs.
-
The sealed engines must remain intact and not be
tampered with; any seals that have been removed or tampered with will
make the engine illegal and not eligible for competition. The penalty
for anyone tampering with seals, modifying any internal engine parts,
changing the parts from stock as delivered sealed from the factory will
be subject to expulsion from racing (racin USA) sanction event for the
remainder of season and future seasons.

No changes are allowed to the engine - intake manifold,
heads, valve covers, front cover, oil pan, harmonic balancer or any
other part / or parts on or in the engine.

No vacuum pumps
-
All crate engines must remain stock as they come sealed
from the factory.. Crate engines can not be altered, modified or changed
from factory specs.

Engine seal numbers must be clearly visible to series
technical inspectors.
-
Any violation of the engine rules and or factory specs
inside the sealing bolts of the engine will result in the driver being
disqualified from that event, and suspended from series competition for
one year and pay $1000.00 fine. After that period, the driver can only
compete with an engine equipped with original factory sealing bolts, and
may not compete with an engine equipped with "RM" bolts, unless
authorized by the series officials. This also applies to the car owner
should another driver compete with it.

Any violation of the engine rules and or factory specs
outside of the sealing bolts of the engine will result in the driver
being disqualified from that event, suspended from the series for 30
days, and fined $500.00.
Engine Setback Rule
Engine setback will be 6" from center of the top ball
joint to the most forward spark plug on the jig-frame car with 1"
tolerance on the engine setback. There will be a minim 50 pound penalty
forward of the motor plate for each 1/2 inch of setback beyond 7 inches of
the engine setback, and can go up to 100 pounds penalty. Cars with more
then 8 inches engine setback will not be allowed to compete.
Carburetor Rules
-
One four-barrel carburetor only from any manufacture.
-
Engine must be naturally aspirated.
-
604 - may use one carburetor spacer ( 1 inch - one piece
with .040 tolerance maximum) and two standard paper gaskets (maximum
0.070 inch thick), one gasket between intake spacer and one gasket
between spacer to carburetor.

602 - May use one carburetor spacer (2 inch-one piece
with .040 tolerance maximum) and two standard paper gaskets (maximum
0.070 inch thick), one gasket between intake to spacer and one gasket
between spacer and carburetor.
Distributor Rule
-
Any electronic distributor-type ignition system.
-
No crank trigger
-
No distributor less multi-coil
-
No magneto ignition
Starter Rule
All cars must have starter in working order.
Water Pump Rules
-
Cast or aluminum permitted.
-
No electric water pump.
Exhaust Rules
-
Collector type headers required, must have four (4)
tubes into one (1) collector of a consistent diameter.
-
Mufflers not required.
-
No tri-y headers or merged headers allowed
-
No square-tube headers allowed.
Brake Rules
No carbon fiber brakes.
Frame Rules
-
All frames bust be of steel construction
-
Square or rectangular frame must have a minimum of 2" x
2" material, 0.83 wall thickness.
-
Round Tube Frame - Tubing must have a minimum of 1-3/4
outside diameter, .083 wall thickness.
Body Rules
-
Lucas oil late model body rules apply.
-
Maximum spoiler height is 12 inches.
-
Spoilers must be made of a transparent material such as
(lexan), sheet aluminum, or materials of equal strength. Spoiler
supports should be made of equal material on both sides. No open spoiler
supports.
-
Aerotech dominator nose piece is allowed.
-
No mirrors.
-
No radios.
Fuel Cell - Fuel Pump Rules
-
An approved fuel cell (32 gallon maximum) must
be securely mounted in the trunk area of the car, inside a .20
gauge metal box supported by a minimum of two 2" by 1/8" steel
straps.
-
All fuel cells must be completely visible from
the rear of the car.
-
Pump gasoline or racing gasoline only - No
Ethanol, (E85 or E105) no Methanol, or Alcohol no Nitrous
Oxide, no Oxygenated racing fuels, no Nitrous Methane or other
Nitrate Additives, no propylene Oxide, no Dioxanes, or fuels
containing any of the above fuels that test positive for these
additives will, be disquafied.

No eclectic fuel pumps, must be mechanical
fuel pump only - cam driven mechanical fuel pump only, cam
driven or belt driven, no electric fuel pumps.
Roll Cage Rules
-
All cars must have a suitable steel roll cage
protecting the drivers compartment, including head rest.
-
Slide roll bars are mandatory, and must extend
into the door panels. A minimum of three (3) bars must be on
the left side.
-
Each bar must be at least 1 1/2" diameter,
with a minimum material thickness of .083".
-
Roll cages must be welded to the frame.
Weight Rules
-
GM Crate Engine # 88958602 - 2200lbs at all
times and after race
-
GM Crate Engine # 88958604 - 2350lbs at all
times and after race
-
Attached weight must be securely bolted to the
frame with 1/2 inch or larger bolts. Weight must be painted
white with car number displayed. You will be disqualified if
you lose weight on the track.
TRANSMISSION RULES
-
Must have at least one forward and one reverse
gear in working order.
-
No straight drives or in and out boxes.
-
Drive shafts must be painted white- carbon
fiber drive shafts are legal.
-
Ball Spline transmissions- strongly
recommended to run carbon fiber drive shaft only! (this is for
your safety)
Wheels Rules
-
Any brand or type of wheel allowed. Must be
mounted with lug nuts.
-
No knocks-off or center lock wheels. Max Wheel
width 14".
Wheel Base Rule
-
103" minimum wheelbase for jig and snout car.
Tire Rule
-
Hoosier crate spec 55 tires only.
NOTE: Weekly NeSmith Late Models may run Crate 55 or 21
Per NeSmith Rules, Isle Of Capri Late Modes may run Crate 55
ONLY.
-
No chemical alternation of the tire carcass
and/or tread compound, such as tire soaking or use of tread
"softener".
-
No physical defacement (removal, altering, or
covering), of tire sidewall markings in any manner.
Drivers car Changes and Substitutions
-
A driver may go to a backup car before
qualifications. Backup cars may not be used after a driver
qualifies his primary car. The backup car must be teched
before qualifications begin.

Driver already qualified may go to another car
qualified and start at the rear of the pack
-
A driver may only enter one car per event,
unless a backup car is utilized before the start of
qualifications.
